Testimonials

“This last session of rain has been a big test for the waterproofing system you installed at our house a year ago in the fall. [While much of Chapel Hill was flooding]. I am glad to tell you that your system passed with flying colors. Not a drop of water in our basement, nor any efflorescence on the walls. We are very happy with the results and happy to sing your praises.”

~ James Moeser, Chancellor Emeritus for UNC-Chapel Hill

"Your installation crew just left my house and I wanted to write you a note and commend them on their fine work. They worked nonstop in the 100 degree heat today and, in my mind, were true champions. They installed the drainage pipes and catch basin as I expected to see. perfect the first time. The grass was replaced and one can barely notice that a significant amount of work was completed just under the surface of the grass. The team was courteous and considerate as they worked and also took the time to answer my questions about the installation. I would recommend this team to anyone needing work done at their house."

~ Michael C., Durham, NC

"You have a satisfied customer. Your crew showed up as promised on Monday and finished the job in 3 days as you promised. The weather was not great for your team but they persevered and worked through it. Our premises were left in excellent condition. I inspected the crawl space yesterday and found it neat with everything in working order. Thanks again and I'll be happy to recommend your company to anyone I know who may need the services that your company offers."

Once again, I thank you for your words of wisdom and advice regarding my drainage issues. You rightfully discerned my "unrest" regarding this matter. All of a sudden, I had lots of questions and wondered if I had been "wronged" by the developer. Hearing that there was essentially no way to effectively slope or grade with the limited amount of land available reassured me. I will also heed the advise to appeal to the good side of the builder. Regardless of the outcome, it's a win-win situation for me as I was blessed to meet a business man of great integrity. I was also given a very fair price for all the work that has been and is to be done. I have also learned a thing or two about drainage systems.

"Lindsley Waterproofing's crew are very professional. They did a great job of exterior waterproofing the basement of our house. Work was completed on time and the job site was left clean. We highly recommend their service."

~Huiman Barnhart, Chapel Hill

"Based on a recommendation from a neighbor, I contacted Lindsley Waterproofing to resolve a long-standing water problem in our dirt crawlspace. Our older home was built on a sloping former creek bank and thus water drained toward our house from both above and below ground. The problem was exacerbated by recent removal of nearby trees. Jim Lindsley made a careful analysis and presented a detailed proposal to address the problem. His solution differed significantly from one I had received from another waterproofing company in that water would be diverted outside rather than inside the foundation to protect the concrete from water damage and therefore a sump pump was not needed. The project required trenching around the front and side of the house and seventy feet down the back side of our property. The work crew dug all the trenches by hand (nine feet deep in the front) very efficiently in hot summer weather. All landscaping that was in the way was removed and replaced without significant loss of viability. The dirt crawlspace was sealed with plastic sheeting and is now completely dry. The entire process took less than a week to complete. My neighbor and I were both impressed with how hard the crew worked and how well the job was done. The twenty-five year guarantee, transferable to a new owner was a major plus. In summary, I would highly recommend Lindsley Waterproofing, a locally-owned and operated business in our area."

~David Adams, Chapel Hill, NC

"This company is wonderful. I called Jim Lindsley to give me an estimate for drying out a wet crawl space and was impressed by how knowledgeable and thorough he was. His solution, in my case, did not involve a sump pump which surprised me, but after doing some research and talking to him more, I was 100% sold. The crew who worked here couldn't have been better. They worked quickly and knew what they were doing every step of the way. Every one of them was so nice, I felt sad when they left. I agonized over spending money on something I couldn't even see, but it has turned out to be one of the best investments I've ever made. I feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulders. We just had a long night of pouring, flooding rain and I was able to relax, rather than fearing water might be collecting in the crawl space. Right now, the humidity level in my house is 10 - 15 degrees lower than it used to be after rain. In fact, it didn't rise at all. Amazing. Thank you, Lindsley Waterproofing. You have my highest recommendation."

"Lindsley Waterproofing personnel were professional and customer service oriented throughout the entire process from initial contact, inspection, detailed explanation of the work and the value of their thoroughness. I feel they did a superior job at a fair price. The warranty speaks volumes about the quality of the workmanship. All this and done exactly in the timeframe promised."

- Ed McCann, Interior de-watering

I hired Lindsley Waterproofing to address the sudden appearance of humidity in one room of my house. (I even had mildew in the blinds!) Lindsley came out, saw that water was getting into the crawl space, and knew exactly how to respond. They are clearly very experienced and were thorough and efficient in carrying out the job of waterproofing the foundation and piping the water away from the house. On top of it, they worked in winter, interrupted by snow and single-digit temperatures and still completed the work (a big job) in under a week; it would have been 3-4 days without the winter weather. I was very pleased with the friendly, helpful, competent people, with their work, and with the outcome. The job was expensive, but it was hugely important to the health of my house and has protected my entire investment in my home. Now, after a year and a half without indoor humidity, I couldn't be happier. I am pleased to give Lindsley Waterproofing a resounding endorsement, and I heartily recommend them!

You can trust that Jim Lindsley and his team at Lindsley Waterproofing will do their best to serve the customer.

With a leaking roof and water in my crawl space, I have had a lot of contractors visiting my home in the recent months and offering options.  You certainly learn a lot about each company in this initial encounter.  From the moment I met Jim, I knew that this is a man whom I can count on, someone who will be honest, straightforward, and sincere. Jim crawled around in my crawl space and carefully documented the extent of the water damage.  He followed up with a highly thorough and professional proposal, complete with color photos demonstrating the problem and a highly detailed explanation of the best way to fix it.

The crew is top-notch.  They worked hard from start to finish, carefully digging the trenches and making sure that my shrubbery was protected. This is long, hard work and they completed it cheerfully and well.  They were always very cordial and kept me up to date on progress.  I run a home daycare, and the kids loved watching their progress from my front porch.  The crew was warm and friendly to these little guys, who loved watching the whole process. I asked for a couple of modifications to move a disbursement basin, and Jim followed up immediately.  They removed the basin and dug an extra long trench to the back of my property.

I also called when I found water in my crawl space.  They sent someone immediately to evaluate the problem, identifying that the water was getting in at the crawl space door.  They built a wooden lip to keep the water from entering, temporarily installed a dehumidifier and sealed all the openings to totally dry out the space – all at no extra cost.

I would also add that the office staff is as cordial and welcoming as the rest of the crew.  They forwarded my questions immediately and followed up to let me know what was happening.  Jim is more than willing to work on payment options, even offering a discount for prompt payment.  He also was willing to complete my project in two phases so that I could raise the money.  Lindsley Waterproofing is certainly not the cheapest option, but it is the best.  You get what you pay for – and Jim and his crew are worth every penny.

I recently needed work done on my chimney.  I got quotes from four different companies and Jim’s was the best for completing every component of the job.  Again, the crew was top-notch.  They worked hard!  My chimney rests on a 3-foot deep slab of concrete – and it was certainly not easy to dig through that.  The crew had to put in extra days to get this done.  Again, the children loved watching this process and the crew was just lovely to them.

Thanks to a kind neighbor, the crew used his backyard to bring in a mini-excavator.  They were very meticulous about reseeding the yard and making sure all was as it should be again.  This was a great relief to me. I can confidently say that my crawl space is now water free and my chimney safe and on its feet again – all thanks to Lindsley waterproofing.  I wouldn’t hesitate to call them again.

Working with Lindsley Waterproofing was a pleasant experience. They were quick, respectful and made sure all questions were answered before leaving our home. We are very pleased with the smooth process. We are also happy that we will breathe in much cleaner air inside our new home!

- Jae Y., Cary

Just wanted to take a couple of minutes to provide feedback on my recent experience with the Lindsley Team.  My experience was stellar and I wanted to pass along the following details:

Quote process:

• Mr. Lindsley was on time and performed a thorough investigation.

• The issues were explained at the time of investigation.

• The timely follow-up quote not only documented the issues but it also provided reading material on the subject plus a detailed drawing of what work would be done.

• I felt that the job would be completed in a professional manner and that I could count on the repair taking care of the issue.

Waterproofing Job:

• Drew and team were right on time and very courteous.

• Other than the normal trenching for the external drain, no damage was done to my yard which was great as we just spent quite a bit of time and efforts in the fall on our yard.

• Work site was left clean.

• Drew even sent me an email during the work process indicating it was nice to meet me, thanking me for the business and to email back if I had any questions.

• Completed in two days which was the estimated time to finish.

In general, I thank you for the professionalism and customer centric focus that everyone on the Lindley team extended.  For these reason, I see why you were recommended and I would not hesitate to recommend your services.

"This is the second house that I own that the team at Lindsley has worked on to keep dry.  Jim Lindsley, the owner, is a truly knowledgeable person when it comes to water problems.  I suspect over the many years of working on them, he knows more than most engineers.  He shows up on time, listens to the homeowner, diagrams a plan and then sends his excellent team out to execute it.  I can't recommend him highly enough.  And, as I learned when looking for someone to mitigate the leaking problems, others in the construction professions feel the same way because they also recommend him."

"I just want to say thank you for doing a top notch job at my house. Your staff were easy to work with, they communicated clearly, and the quality of work is excellent. I feel so much better knowing the air coming into my house is cleaner, and that you have guaranteed me I don't have to go into my crawlspace and check for water any longer."

~ Alicia B-S, Raleigh

"We are very pleased with the work you did, as we were at our previous home, and so far, the walls in the basement are dry, even though we're in the midst of the monsoon season. We've had a new vinyl floor put down in the laundry room, now that the walls are dry, and Mark has prepped the walls and will begin painting them this weekend. It's a much more cheerful room, and will be even better after painting, thanks to you and your crew's hard work."

~ Anne, Durham, NC

"Thanks to Lindsley Waterproofing, our new home in Chapel Hill (built in 1968) has a crawl space which is neat and tidy and dry as a bone. One of my family members has serious respiratory problems and when the house was inspected, the crawl space was an unwholesome, wet mess. Jim and his crew were a pleasure to work with. They did a great job and I feel very good about the safety of our environment now. Nice people, professional behavior and high standards. I’m a happy customer!"

"I've been in the Mortgage Lending Business for 18 years and Lindsley Waterproofing is one of the best contractors and companies that I have worked with over the years. Jim was very clear and concise on diagnosis of the moisture problem underneath my home. His price was very competitive and it did not seem like overkill. All of the work was completed very quickly in a professional and helpful way. Jim and his crew have done an excellent job and I would highly recommend Lindsley Waterproofing."

"When faced with the serious problems of wet crawl spaces or basements, it's nice to know that we have experience professionals in our area to correct them. Jim Lindsley, President of the company, answered my many questions with straight-forward answers that showed his many years of experience in the field of post-construction waterproofing. All employees were courteous and were very careful to protect the driveway, lawn, and shrubbery. I was amazed at the amount of hard work that could be completed so thoroughly and neatly in such a short time."

Dear Lindsley Waterproofing,
This is just what we needed. We have had several different companies come out and bid for the work. Your report and information surpassed the others in terms of overall quality.the diagrams of what you proposed to do were clear and easy to interpret once studied, the supporting information was helpful to inform and educate, and your pricing was competitive (neither absurdly low nor gougingly high). I especially liked how you provided detailed diagrams of each of the specific areas (outside and inside). Your accessability by phone and general availability has been excellent. Thanks again for your comprehensiveness and flexibility in creating both an overall solution as well as one customized to address the specific problems addressed by the inspector. You have my full endorsement as the company to go with, but ultimately it will be the decision of the buyer to decide.I will certainly recommend to them with strongest support to have the Lindsley team get to work as soon as possible. I.ve cc.d our realtor.this is the second time we.ve worked with her and she is top-notch, a highly skilled and experienced professional. It is my hope that she will be a source of referrals as issues come up with other properties in the future."

"In my experience, Jim Lindsley, of Lindsley Waterproofing in Durham, does simply exceptional work. I've used his company's services on jobs big and small, and his thorough approach to his work and his professional explanation of what he finds never waivers. Jim does an exceptional job explaining the circumstances, making it crystal clear to both Buyer and Seller the scope of work that's required. Then, when the crews arrive to do the work, it's done quickly, professionally, and properly. If you need waterproofing services for a Buyer or a Seller, I would recommend you call Lindsley Waterproofing first."

The team at Lindsley Waterproofing was a rare pleasure to work with. From the first interaction with the owner, Jim, who did the initial site survey to the final resolution of my water leak, the team was punctual, professional, communicated well and came prepared. Their quote was in line with the competition and their very thorough presentation with detailed diagrams and precise scope of work won my business. Even after a surprise issue was uncovered during excavation, the team remained committed to solving the problem and worked with me to come to a mutually acceptable solution that ultimately fixed my leak and returned my property to its original condition. In today's business world, there are few companies who care about their customers and go the extra mile to satisfy them. Lindsley Waterproofing is one of those few.

- Joshua L., Wake Forest

Lindsley Waterproofing, Inc. did a job for me in 2002 with 15 helical piers, sump pump, etc. major repair! With our alternating extreme droughts and heavy rains, my house had a weak spot that continued to show movement. Jim Lindsley, true to his warranty, monitored the movement regularly and made some adjustments to the piers. Finally this year we discovered the horrible fact that the weak spot did not have a pier supporting it. Digging through the paper work from the past, I discovered the engineer's report which recommended 15 piers as compared to Jim's original plan of 13, focused mainly on the north end of the house where the big sinking was going on. The engineer had spread out the placement of the piers, but sadly left the weakest spot unsupported. I had ordered this engineer's report to be safe, but what cruel irony that his plan was wrong! Jim's original drawing would have protected my house so much better. I am sorry Jim gave in to the engineer's plan, but when you consider that now all these jobs are supposed to have an engineer's report, it puts the foundation companies in a hard place--look at this example. I recognize that there are many excellent engineers, but it's like the doctor joke: what do you call the lowest ranking student among the medical school graduates? "Doctor." Sometimes the people on the job with the experience DO know more than the "experts." In my case the engineer gets by with no consequences whatsoever. I'm the one who has to pay the higher price for the repair, but Jim Lindsley is giving me a discount for his part in the mistake of having followed the engineer's plan instead of his instincts. I find this honorable and decent. -

"I cannot thank you enough for the professional, on-schedule, well-organized, and fantastic work you did on our house this week. We had three parts to water problem in our crawl space that we had been trying to fix for several years. With your fully comprehensive proposal that explained the problem and the solution, we felt more informed to be able to make a good decision. Your field workers spent the last 2 days working in the rain to complete a new positive drain in back (and under a deck), get the water out of the crawl space, lay down all new plastic, and add waterproofing and a new french drainage system in the front of the house. Both your office staff and field workers went above and beyond to help complete the work well above our expectations! I'd recommend your company to anyone who has drainage issues. Again thank you! "

"Hallelujah!!! I can't wait for some real good rain to watch the system work. It looks great. The outside of the house looks better than when the crew started. I watched the entire process and think the design is very sound. Every bit of the effort was first class from your web services, procedures, agreement, prompt responses, crew knowledge and work ethic, clean up. Everything was superb."

"I'm a big fan of Lindsley Waterproofing. I really appreciate my relationship with your company. Once again I am very impressed with the quality of the work that your crew did. Victor was incredibly professional and a great crew leader. I'll be calling you for advice on our next house!"

Dear Mr. Lindsley:
W would like to take this opportunity to thank you and Lindsley Waterproofing, Inc. for the excellent work you and your crew recently did for us on the waterproofing job at our home on Wesley Court. We were impressed with the work and the entire process, from the estimate to completion. As you know, we were concerned with water entering our basement during heavy rains. Your recommendation for the work that needed to be done was appreciated. You gave us several options from which to choose. And, the estimate for the work was presented in a very professional manner with complete drawings and explanations. In addition, your office staff was very helpful with answering our questions or relaying them to you. During the work, we were impressed with the professionalism of your work crew. We were able to coordinate their work with the irregular sleeping habits of our 9-month-old granddaughter. When the work was done, you could hardly tell that anyone had been there. The work area was cleaned of debris and the yard and area around the house was graded and raked. Again, we thank you for your work and the opportunity to work with you. The experience exceeded our expectations.

~Rick & Sue, Chapel Hill, NC

"Thank you so much for a job well done. One of the things your office personnel did that was nice was to call us daily to let us know how things were going or how you were leaving things at the end of the day so that when we came home from work we knew what to expect. When all is said and done, we would recommend you to friends. At this point, you exceeded our expectations!"

"Mr. Lindsley combines an experienced appreciation for the potential damage moisture can cause with a budget-minded practicality in proposing solutions. I would not proceed with any significant foundation or drainage work without calling Lindsley Waterproofing, Inc. for a proposal.

"Living in the 'clay belt' of the Piedmont, we experienced water accumulation in our crawl space. Lindsley Waterproofing offered us a permanent solution to our problem and we are happy to see the results. Their workers were courteous and efficient. Our landscaping was minimally affected. We strongly recommend Lindsley Waterproofing for any of your waterproofing needs."

"We were so pleased with every aspect of the job that Lindsley Waterproofing did for us! We needed our foundation drain system replaced. Mr. Lindsley was incredibly thorough when preparing his estimate and answered every question we had. The work crew showed up when they said they would and were remarkably professional during the job. Part of our job required digging a trench through our front yard to run the drain to the street. We were concerned that the digging would damage the grass and be very unsightly when the project was complete. The work crew carefully dug up the yard and meticulously replaced the grass when they were done - you can hardly tell they dug a trench several feet deep! In addition, the work was completed in half the time we were quoted. True professionals with obvious experience in this work."

This is the second house that I own that the team at Lindsley has worked on to keep dry. And, as I learned when looking for someone to mitigate the leaking problems, others in the construction professions feel the same way because they also recommend him.

- Gary W., Chapel Hill

I want to compliment and highly recommend Lindsley Waterproofing for the outstanding work they performed to solve an efflorescence problem we had in our basement.

The north wall of our basement had a serious efflorescence problem.  After going online and reading reviews of several waterproofing companies we interviewed three for the job and decided to go with Lindsley for a number of factors:

  • First, and most important, was Jim Lindsley’s professional approach to analyzing our situation and presenting a number of treatment options.

  • Second, he took the time to teach us about how water was flowing around our house and causing our problem.  He listened to us and spent a long time explaining the pros and cons of different solutions before giving his recommendation.

  • Third, his proposal was excellent in regards to thoroughness, attention to detail, and diagrams.

  • Fourth, very high ratings on Angie’s List

  • Fifth, he is a local Durham business.

The solution we chose was to hand dig by our north and west foundation walls to little below the original waterproofing, a depth ranging from three to five feet.  Once exposed, the walls were wire brushed and smoothed where necessary, a water resistant mastic applied, followed by a waterproof membrane, then a thin foam sheet to keep soil from harming the membrane and compromising it.  On the north side of the house a french drain was installed coupled to a drain pipe that discharged about 40 feet from our house in the backyard.  The plan was comprehensive and reasonably priced (not cheap) for the level of effort required.

This was a four day job.  The crew that did the work as fantastic!  Everyone was friendly and courteous especially when we asked questions while they were working.  The crew showed up on time every day, worked hard, then cleaned up and covered exposed materials at the end of the day.   Their attention to detail was a pleasure to watch.

All the digging was done by hand resulting in large piles of dirt on the side and front of our house that were placed on heavy plastic to protect the driveway and yard.  The precision of the digging was amazing.  The trenches were straight, level on the bottom, and had vertical sides.  They were actually pleasing to look at.  When applying the mastic, waterproof membrane, foam sheet and installing the french drain the crew took their time and made sure the work was done right – they did not cut corners.  We had pavers that needed to be removed and reinstalled when the work was completed.  Looking at them now you cannot tell they were ever removed.  As with any job, little things needed to be changed or adjusted along the way and the crew handled them without complaint.  The crew returned the property as close as possible to the way it was when they started.  One thing that really impressed me about the crew as their attention to little details, such as putting down plastic in our basement to protect the floor when they went to the bathroom, taking the excess dirt and filling in a hole in our back yard and then leveling it out so it was not unsightly, smoothing rough concrete along the walls so that waterproofing materials would seat properly, pressure washing at the end.  In fact, looking at our home you would not know that extensive digging had been done.

I highly recommend Lindsley Waterproofing to anyone who has a water problem at their home.  You will not find a more professional, detail oriented, fairly priced contractor.
